The procedure is performed under a "sleepy" state with numbing medicine, or under complete general anesthesia. Recovery Process
The time needed to recover from liposuction depends on the areas of liposuction and how much needs to be removed. Occasionally, Dr. Stanwix will have you stay briefly overnight in the hospital to recover. However, the overwhelming majority of time you will go home the same day of surgery. Dr. Stanwix provides you with pain medicine and other medicines to help with discomfort after surgery. It is very important to always wear your surgical garment, it helps to mold your skin to the ideal curves and figure that you desire. The day after surgery you can start to shower and it is important to walk around. Depending on the area of surgery, your return to work and physical activity will vary.
